My Work

I came to writing late in life when I realized the passion to merge my love of dogs and my desire to educate children about them. I have always known what good examples dogs can be: they are honest, they are in the moment, and they believe in the golden rule: “give unto others…:. What better teachers for children. The added benefit is children are not being preached to, they are learning through entertainment.

My first series, “Life Lessons from Dogs”, is largely experiences and lessons I have learned as a dog trainer for over 20 years. The first book “Make Room for Jasper”, teaches about diversity and blended families. The second, “The Perfectly Imperfect Puppy”, teaches about disabilities and overcoming obstacles. Both of these stories are true stories about dogs I have had the privilege to own in my life.

My Life

I am a dog trainer, a computer geek, and an author of children’s books.

I have gotten to this place in my life with little planning and a lot of calculated reacting. Each of the turns on my path, however, was rooted in thigs that I love…animals, children, technology, and being creative.

Everything I am, though, I owe to my parents and my family. It was a unique situation in today’s light. I grew up on a 2 family house in Brooklyn, NY with my family (Mom, Dad, and brother) living downstairs. My Aunt, Uncle, and their 4 kids upstairs. We were one family with 4 parents. Sunday dinners together; holidays together, special occasions together, and of course the hard times and disasters too.

We all believed in education, I just took the long and winding road to get there. I started with 3 years of college then it took a right turn; secretarial school, electronics then later in life graphic design and 3 Master’s degrees. While I will be paying student loans for the rest of my life. I can’t say that I regret any of it. Knowledge is never a waste.

I was married, had 2 girls of my own, then divorced after over a decade. The girls are wonderful women with their own lives and I am very proud of them.

Life is not easy, but it is what you make it. This is me making it!
